Rising Damp Treatment
Rising damp is potentially an issue that can affect all buildings. Practically all buildings are surrounded by natural moisture that is trying to get into the dry structure of the building.
Identifying rising damp
The one thing to remember when identifying rising damp is that there are many forms of damp that can affect a property and different forms of damp proofing to help treat the particular damp problem.
Penetrating damp is an issue that generally affects older buildings. Typically, penetrating damp is caused by issues with the building or plumbing where a problem has allowed water to enter the property.

Damp and damp proofing is by far, the most frequent problem encountered in the home. Each year, the average home in Scotland copes with around 15,000 gallons of rain water, so it is no surprise that damp proofing can become a big problem for many.
What is Rising Damp
Any masonry structure, unprotected by a properly installed damp proof course, is susceptible to natural rising damp. Damp will rise by capillary action through the pores of the masonry, seeking a means of evaporation.
